Growing up in a military family Enygma was exposed to the world and different cultures fairly early in her life. With the support of her parents and doing some of her schooling in a home environment Enygma was able to refine her creativity through music, writing, painting, etc. Additional education led her to learn instruments and have vocal coaching , which has proved to be very beneficial for the very talented songstress.
The road for Enygma hasn’t always been so smooth though as with most of us who have a dream, there are highs and lows. She had been offered a deal at the age of 17 but felt like it just wasn’t the right time. However, with the wisdom of saying no and her recent trip to Mexico she was enlightened and came back with a new perspective and ready to give what she loves another try. Most recently she has released her single Bent and is set to release Eargasm( the Mixtape) Feb. 2.

We all go through our share of opposition and lows but its how you handle yourself in those moments that determine the outcome. I’m not sure who needs to hear these words tonight but just know you’re not alone.
What’s left when all you can do is all you’ve ever done? What’s left when the dream turns into a nightmare and the facade isn’t what you thought it would be. Lack of understanding, lack of support, just the lack of in general. What’s left? How do you stand in a world that wants you to fall? How do you speak when your voice even amongst your own seems so small. Where do you go when the world turns its back on you? Who do you call once the chips are down? What happens when religion even seems to feel like it’s failing you? Do you retreat? Do you give up? Do you cower and run hiding? Or are you like a lion fierce, loyal, protective and ready to bounce back after every feat? What’s your position when opposition comes? Are you torn to bits unable to stand? Defeated and left for dead? Or are you pushing at what pushes you, determined not to let it be your end. Whatever your position, whatever stance you take no one can live it for you. So when you’re standing in that mirror with defeat in your eyes ,and you ask what’s left? Stand up, shoulders back chest out and proudly say ME.

I know I may be a bit late when it comes to this artist but then again you can never be too late when it comes to discovering new music. I heard Loner by Kali Uchis just yesterday and it’s one of those songs that a lot of us can relate to. I mean honestly who wants to be used and tossed aside for the next hot thing. Most of us have been at that place where it’s like I’d rather stay to myself then deal with the pain and Kali expresses that emotion honestly. As I sit here and write this I am filled with emotion. If anyone told me I would be blogging now I wouldn’t have believed them, for this was never in the plan. However. I am so glad that I started. I have discovered parts of myself that I never knew existed. This is truly a step in faith and I couldn’t have asked for a better start to a beautiful journey. I’ve decided to compile a playlist and add videos of all the artists I have interviewed/featured on my blog this year. You all have made my year and I wish you much success in your own personal journey’s, not just in music but in life as a whole. You’ve made my first year as a blogger very rewarding and I am so happy to have met you!!! I say to 2015 thank you for everything, the ups the downs and everything in between. Here’s to 2016!!!!!!!!

It’s been a while since I’ve done a post for Soulful Sunday’s but I’m back with another great artist. Leon Bridges is the epitome of Soul. His music is impeccable. It takes me back to Sam Cooke and Marvin Gaye, even a bit of Muddy Waters. It’s so refreshing to hear music that still speaks to my soul. I hope you enjoy as much as I do.
